Can you Spare a Dollar? For a Paper Rose or Two!

Or a few!! I made this little box today, I haven't finished the album inside yet, because I'm not sure what I am going to do...so that will just have to wait until later. But, my whole point for this blog entry is that the Thrift Store and the Dollar Store ROCK!! I get so inspired at those stores...first they fit my budget, second it's such random stuff that you find...and third it makes me creavtive..something about the Goodwill makes my creativity come full force...I can't tell you how many things I have "re-purposed" from the thrift store.

So with that being said...yesterday at the thrift store, I found a bag with a bunch of faux pearl necklaces in it. Pretty nice quality...I always find these kind of necklace bags and always buy them for that day when I need them for a project. So, I bought another bag of pearls yesterday and then stopped at the Dollar Store. As I went into the gift wrap section to get a "Boy" birthday bag (I have plenty of frilly girly bags at home, but no boys and we have a party to go to on Friday) these paper roses caught my eye. They come with 2 roses in each package and are so pretty and vintagey looking!! Now if I had Jenni Bowlin's personal phone number, I might have to call her to tell her to run to the Dollar Tree, because these roses would "SO" fit her vintage kit themes! But being that I don't and didn't want to sound like a crazy, calling her customer service line...I just bought some for myself!

This morning, I woke up and although I have a TON of housework to do and packing to start, I had to make something with these pretties...so this is what I came up with. I used a Maya Road Box (the one that comes with the scalloped album inside) and I sprayed with with Glimmer Mist in Antique Pink. I then inked it with brown ink. I covered it with Ledger paper and used the floral green by Graphic 45 (new super cool vintage line). I poked 2 holes in top and threaded my pearls onto a wire and made a pearl handle. For some reason I am also addicted to raffle tickets. So I bought 2 big rolls at Party City. I used these to make a tag, which I inked and stamped with a Maya Road "Journey" postage stamp. I adhered some of the scalloped ric-rac ribbon around the box, stamped a flourish using my new Hero Arts stamp, tied some tulle and gingham ribbon...and attached the tag with a safety pin and DONE!!

I personally love the way it turned out and as soon as I finish this blog entry and heading straight back to the Dollar store to get more Roses!!
